OCSD Monitoring Severe Weather

7:00 pm:

Good evening, this is the Okaloosa County School District with a weather update for tomorrow, Monday, May 13. As of 7:00 pm, the Okaloosa County Public Safety Office and District officials have received the latest weather update which indicates that while it is still difficult to predict the timing and severity of the storms to hit our area, current models and weather experts suggest the first round of storms are currently set to impact us beginning around 9 am until 3 pm. This system is a three-state event, adding to it’s complexity. Guidance provided to the School District suggests that the biggest threat is rain with the possibility of scattered severe thunderstorms. Schools will continue on regular schedules tomorrow. Decisions about after-school activities will be made tomorrow and communicated to parents as quickly as possible as information regarding additional rounds of storms is received. We appreciate your patience, as safety is our top priority, and we will provide updates as we receive them. Thank you, and have a great evening!

12:30 pm:

Good morning, and Happy Mother's Day OCSD Family! We are in communication with Okaloosa Public Safety Director, Patrick Maddox about a

nother active system that is quickly approaching our area Monday morning and into Tuesday. Their confidence is increasing in the potential for heavy rainfall and multiple rounds of strong to severe storms capable of damaging winds, tornadoes, and hail.

We will continue to monitor the system and after the 5pm report from public safety, we will update families for Monday morning. Thank you and enjoy your day!
