Speech and Debate Team

Speech and Debate Club has started, but students can still join.
Meetings are held on Tuesdays in Room 405 from 2:30 to 3:30 pm year-round.
We will attend at least three FLorida Civics and Debate Initiative Tournaments this year.
Mrs. Brenneise "Mrs. B" is the coach.
What IS Speech and Debate??
Speech and Debate Club is a year-round club that meets in room 405 every Tuesday from 2:30-3:30 pm September through April. Mrs. Brenneise is the coach and sponsor and welcomes students who are interested in building skills in speaking confidence, fluency, and presentation, as well learning debate foundations.
RMS Speech and Debate Club typically competes in 4 FCDI tournaments per school year. As a middle school team, we exclusively attend tournaments within about 1 hour from Niceville, so anywhere from Pensacola to Panama City. Tournaments take place on Saturdays and begin at 8 am and end at 5pm. Parents are responsible for student travel to and from tournaments. Parents are also largely responsible for becoming volunteer judges at tournaments and will need to complete a 90-minute Canvas Course on judging Speech and Debate events.
Important to note: Speech and Debate Club requires a lot of parent support, both at home through encouragement and at tournaments through transportation and judging.
Incentives also include
Lifetime membership into National Speech and Debate Association
Free Ruckel Speech and Debate Club t-Shirt
Fun Team building opportunities
