Activities

We are fortunate to have many strong Fine Arts programs at Ruckel, including Art, Band, and Chorus. In addition to these elective classes, there are many other teams, organizations and special activities that add an extra dimension to our educational mission here. Please explore our wide variety of offerings -- you're sure to find something that interests you!

Academic Teams

Art Club
Watch for meetings to begin in the fall in room 905. See Ms. Gina Piccorossi in the Art classroom for details.

Assemblies
During the year, the entire school participates in several pep rallies to celebrate our many achievements in academics, athletics, and arts!

Band
Ms. Bruse teaches our Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced, Honor, Football and Jazz Bands, as well as our 5th Grade Band Enrichment Program. We have one of the most successful middle school band programs in the state of Florida, consistently receiving superior ratings at music performance assessments and sending students to All-County and All-State.

Builders Club
We are a student-led organization sponsored by the Niceville-Valparaiso Kiwanis Club and some of their members regularly attend our meetings. Contact Mrs. Lennon for more information.

Chorus
Mr Feazell leads our choruses through training and practice for successful auditions for All-County and All-State honor choirs, as well as developing exceptional talent in Ruckel's Ambassadors.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes
FCA meets once a month in the gym at 7:00 am. The dates are announced on Remind, school announcements, and the Ruckel Web page. Please see any of our sponsors -

National Junior Honor Society
National Junior Honor Society members possess the virtues of scholarship, character, leadership, citizenship, and service. Advisor Mrs. Tomasetti

Odyssey of the Mind
Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics.

School Dances
Sponsored by the PTO and the Cheerleaders, these social events give our students a chance to hang out with their friends, grab some pizza, and dance to the fun tunes!

Speech and Debate Team
Members meet weekly after school and participate in district competitions three times per year. Come and see what Speech and Debate is all about. Listen for announcements for details. Ms. Love is the coach.

Theatre Club
Ms. Barron sponsors this club, which works on NHS theater productions backstage as well as develops a Showcase performance.

Yearbook
Each year's staff is selected from sixth and seventh graders at the end of May to begin working on the next year's publication. They meet twice weekly in Room P2 from 2:30 to 4:15 pm. Advisor Mrs. Marshall .
