Volunteers of the Year

The 2023-2024 Okaloosa County School District Outstanding Volunteers, Callie Mayville and Diana Daley, were recently recognized at the June 24, 2024, School Board meeting.

Callie Mayville, Ruckel Middle School – Adult Volunteer

Callie Mavyille
Callie Mayville was nominated as the Adult Volunteer due to her tireless efforts and leadership in the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at her children’s schools. She has made many meaningful contributions to the school community through her volunteer work, such as her collaboration on teacher appreciation luncheons, Ram Jam, the Veteran’s Day breakfast, the middle school dances, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Hope Squad, and the school spirit store. She designs flyers for the teacher appreciation luncheons, setting and cleaning up at school dances, selling tickets for events, bringing donuts to the FCA meetings and lifesavers with inspirational notes to pass out during Hope Week. Callie is always willing to lend a hand and make things happen. Her kindness and selfless nature shines in everything she does.

Diana Daley, Eglin Elementary School – Senior Volunteer

Diana Daley, Eglin Elementary School – Senior Volunteer
Diane Daley is a retired teacher who still intrinsically loves the art of teaching. She has volunteered in the classroom for the last 7 years, coming in 3 days a week for 4.5 hours a day. She conducts small group instruction, remediation strategies, and assists with enrichment practices with higher-level students. As an example, she mirrors the teacher’s instructional math practices and then breaks down equations step by step to remediate struggling student(s) until they understand the concept. The students love working with her in small groups, because she develops a positive relationship with them, and the students respond to her instructional talents.

Congratulations!!
