International Baccalaureate Program

IB Colegio Del Mundo, World School, Ecole Du Monde

The International Baccalaureate Programme (IB) is offered in Okaloosa County at Choctawhatchee High School, the only IB school between Pensacola and Panama City.

IB was established in Switzerland in the 1960s and has since grown to include more than 5,000 IB Programmes worldwide. Choctaw’s Programme was established in the late 1990s and, since that time, has prepared thousands of students to take on and succeed in their university studies. We pride ourselves in preparing our students to be caring learners who complete their academic work with integrity and great depth of thinking.

IB at Choctaw is divided into two sections.  First is the Florida PreIB Programme, offered in the 9th and 10th-grade years and designed to ease students into advanced, college-level coursework.  Second is the Diploma Programme, offered in the 11th and 12th-grade years, during which students engage in an international standard of education that includes courses in all subject areas, plus Community-Activity-and-Service and Theory of Knowledge, both international requirements.

The Programme at Choctaw integrates both AP and IB coursework, allowing students to earn college credit while in high school. We even have students who undertake dual enrollment while in our Programme! IB students are some of the most involved in the school and participate in athletics, clubs, and student government and often hold jobs outside of school and volunteer in the community.
