The Okaloosa County School District serves approximately 30,000 students from pre-kindergarten to adult education. Each of our 38 schools has its own distinct characteristics while sharing the unified mission and vision of the District. The District's success stems from a strong partnership with parents, community members, educators, and students.
The School Board’s major function is to develop and adopt District policy governing many facets of school operations. The Board can adopt policy upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools and delegates implementation of those policies to the Superintendent. The Board is responsible for approval and adoption of an annual budget that provides the basis for the buildings, furnishings, staff, materials, and equipment needed to carry out all educational programs. School Board Members are elected county-wide and are responsible for the governance of all schools in the County.
School Board meetings are held on the second Monday and fourth Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Training Room at the School Board's Administration Complex in Niceville. Workshop sessions are held on School Board Meeting days at 9:00 am, also in the Training Room at the School Board's Central Administration Complex.
The public is always welcome to these meetings, which are broadcast live on the School Board of Okaloosa County YouTube Page.
The School Board’s Organizational Meeting (TBA) will be held in the Training Room at Central Administrative Complex in Niceville.
