ISEF

Two Okaloosa County students from Niceville High School, Marisol Enguidanos and Aurora Mendenhall, excelled at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) May 14th – May 19th in Dallas, Texas. The Regeneron ISEF is the world’s largest global science competition for high school students. Awards valued at nearly $9 million were awarded to the 2023 finalists, who were evaluated based on their projects’ creativity, innovation, and level of scientific inquiry. The competition featured over 1,600 young scientists representing 49 states and 64 countries, regions, and territories across the world.

Aurora Mendenhall

Mendenhall won $2000 for placing second overall in Mathematics at the Grand Awards Ceremony and was selected to present a short TEDtalk style presentation to area students during ISEF’s Community Outreach Day.

Marisol Enguidanos

Enguidanos was interviewed by Science News for an upcoming ISEF article. 

The students qualified to attend ISEF at the East Panhandle Regional Science Fair which is open to all 6 - 12 grade students in Okaloosa County and is the singular access point and clearing house for students to compete in the Florida Statewide Science and Engineering Fair and ISEF.
