The Okaloosa County School Board approved Brittany Young as the Assistant Principal of Walker Elementary School at the July 10, 2023, School Board meeting.

Brittany Young as the Assistant Principal of Walker Elementary School

Brittany Young is a proud product of the Okaloosa County School District. Coming from a blended family, she has had the privilege of attending Baker School, Walker Elementary School, and Bob Sikes Elementary School for her elementary years, and then Davidson Middle School. She graduated from Crestview High School in 2010. Young earned an associate degree from Northwest Florida State College and a bachelor’s degree from the University of West Florida (UWF). She returned to UWF to earn her master’s in educational leadership. Over the past decade, she has taught Intensive Reading, Leadership, Theatre, and English. As an Intensive Reading teacher, she was recognized as a high-impact teacher in the State of Florida based on test scores.

With her goal to become an administrator, Young dove head first into any project her administration needed to gain valuable leadership experience…everything from planning Homecoming to coaching cheerleading. While at Crestview High School, she helped bridge a powerful community partnership with the city and local business owners to benefit both the school and students. This past year Young has served as the Dean of Students at Crestview High School, working in Discipline and Guidance.

Brittany and her Niceville Eagle-loving husband, Nate, have taught in Okaloosa County for a decade. She has two wonderful children: Tripp, who will be a second grader, and Quinn, who is one. Young is looking forward to being a Walker Owl once again.
