After a formal complaint is filed, we will notify all known parties and their parents/guardians of the allegations. If an informal resolution is not agreed upon by the Title IX Coordinator and all parties in writing, we will proceed with the formal grievance process.

The grievance process can be broken down into three parts: the investigation, the decision-making stage, and the appeal.

During the investigation stage, the investigator will review the complaint and response, interview parties and witnesses, and collect relevant evidence. Parties may review and respond to evidence. The investigator will create an investigative report summarizing the relevant evidence. Parties will have the opportunity to respond to the investigative report.

The decision-maker will review the investigator’s report and go through a question-and-answer process with the Complainant and Respondent. The decision-maker will then make a determination including the result as to each allegation and any disciplinary sanctions.

The decision may be appealed for a limited number of reasons: (1) procedural issues, (2) new evidence, or (3) conflict of interest.
