Nathaniel Chatman and Dawn Massey

The Okaloosa County School District is thrilled to congratulate Florosa Elementary School Principal Dawn Massey for being recognized as a Curriculum Associates' 2024 Extraordinary Educators Leadership Collaborative member! Massey is one of sixteen principals chosen nationwide for their "exemplary practices and use of Curriculum Associates' programs."

All the principals participating have been in their current role for three years or less, have experience using i-Ready and Ready for two or more years, lead staff who have displayed schoolwide achievement in formal assessments, and innovation and engagement practices for students, to name a few.

"A major focus of the Extraordinary Educators Leadership Collaborative is giving leaders time and space for connecting as well as collaborating with each other on the importance of building positive school cultures," said Danielle Sullivan, national director of content and implementation at Curriculum Associates. "We look forward to working with this stellar group of highly motivated and highly passionate educators as they progress in their profession and learn new ways to further serve their school communities. And, we look forward to celebrating their successes along the way."

When asked to describe Florosa's school culture in three words, Massey used “Growth Mindset, Perseverance, and Collaborate.” These words reflect her and her team's high expectations for student achievement through the implementation of the i-Ready resources and curriculum. “I am honored to be selected into the Extraordinary Educators Leadership Collaborative (EELC) group,” stated Dawn Massey. “Florosa Elementary School is a high-performing Title 1 school, and providing a high-quality education is at the heart of what we do each day. We carefully design educational experiences based on the needs of individual students, and teachers collaborate daily to purposefully plan engaging lessons based on research-based strategies that yield a high effect on student learning. I am passionate about professional learning, and this opportunity will allow me to collaborate with other Extraordinary Leaders nationally.”
