The Okaloosa County School District will celebrate the completion of the new 30-classroom addition, multipurpose building, and administrative wing at Destin Elementary School with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 10 a.m. The event will take place at Destin Elementary School, located at 630 Kelly Street, Destin, marking a significant milestone in the district’s continued efforts to provide innovative, high-quality learning environments for students. The 30-classroom addition provides dedicated instructional space for students in grades 3-5, welcoming fifth-grade students back to the elementary campus from Destin Middle School.
“This expansion reflects the school district’s ongoing commitment to providing exceptional educational opportunities while meeting the needs of our growing community,” said Superintendent Marcus Chambers. “By bringing fifth grade back to the elementary campus, we are increasing capacity, reducing our reliance on portable classrooms, and providing students and teachers with modern learning environments designed to support their success. We are grateful to our community for its continued partnership and commitment to ensuring our schools are prepared to meet the needs of current and future generations of students.”
The Destin Elementary expansion reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to strategically managing capital resources and planning for growth to ensure schools have the capacity and facilities needed to serve students today and in the future. “We are incredibly excited to welcome our students, families, and staff into our new 3-5 Center,” said Amy Morgan, principal of Destin Elementary School. “This expansion is a reflection of the continued investment in our students and provides our teachers with the dedicated learning spaces needed to support student success.
