Okaloosa County School District Celebrates 2026 Project SEARCH Graduates

Okaloosa County School District (OCSD) is proud to celebrate the 2026 graduates of the Project SEARCH High School Transition Program, recognizing five students who completed a year of intensive workplace training and career development designed to prepare young adults with disabilities for competitive employment. The graduation ceremony took place on May 20 at the Hilton Garden Inn on Okaloosa Island, where families, mentors, district leaders, and past graduates gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of this year’s cohort. This year’s graduates - Hailey Eubank, Antonio Latimer, Isaiah Parish, Jessica Parker, and David Wahl - each took the stage to share their personal journeys. Their reflections highlighted not only their growth, but also the confidence and independence they gained through months of immersive job training. “Okaloosa County is so proud to offer such a wonderful partnership and valuable opportunity for our students to gain the skills for workplace success,” stated Kathy Ard, Okaloosa County School District ESE Director.

Designed for students ages 18–21 who have completed their high school credits and deferred their diplomas, Project SEARCH provides career exploration and hands-on job training through strong business and community partnerships. The collaboration between the Okaloosa County School District and Innisfree Hotels is a cornerstone of the program, showcasing the impact of community engagement in preparing students for successful careers. “Project SEARCH continues to change lives by giving our students the skills, confidence, and opportunities they deserve," stated Superintendent Marcus Chambers. “I want to thank Beverly Wilson and Mei Lanie Bilbow for their passion and dedication to this program. Their work with our strategic partners ensures our students are set up for success, both now and in the future.”

This year’s success reflects a growing momentum. The program continues to expand, and OCSD anticipates an even larger group of students participating next year, a sign of both increased interest and the community’s commitment to inclusive workforce development. Students interested in Project SEARCH must submit their applications between August and the end of March during their senior year. The process involves completing an application form, participating in an interview, and undergoing an assessment. Final selections are announced by the end of April for the following school year. Please note that applicants must defer their diplomas in order to participate. To learn more about Project SEARCH, visit www.projectsearch.us.
