What is SAC?

What is SAC?

SAC stands for School Advisory Council. It is a team of people representing various segments of the community – parents, teachers, administrators, support staff, business people – that work together to increase student achievement in a safe learning environment.

What does SAC do?

SAC assists in the preparation and evaluation of the School Performance Plan (SPP). SAC also decides jointly with the school faculty how A+ recognition funds are distributed. Additionally, SAC determines how any school improvement funds are spent. Another important function of the council involves reviewing various bylaws and policies associated with our school.

What are SAC members expected to do?

SAC members are expected to attend all meetings throughout the school year. The council examines all aspects of the school related to the School Performance Plan (SPP). Furthermore, SAC members prioritize the needs of the school and develop strategies for improving areas of need.

How do I become a member of SAC?

Email the school principal, Mrs. Bowell at bowellm@okaloosaschools.com. The election of voting members for the 2023-2024 school year will occur at the September 17 meeting.

The SAC membership must be representative of the ethnic, racial, and economic community served by the school. Each advisory council is required to be composed of the principal and an appropriately balanced number of teachers, education support employees, parents, and other business and community citizens.
