Welcome to Meigs Middle School. We are committed to providing critical transitional support for military-connected students as they relocate to our school due to a parent's change in duty station. Our focus is to eliminate barriers to the academic success of military-connected students. We are here to assist and support the military family lifestyle in such areas as school transitions, frequent moves, deployment, and education inconsistencies that exist from state to state, along with many others.

Military Family Life Counselor- available and on campus all week

We pride ourselves on having student leaders, who are also military, acclimate all new military students to our campus. These student leaders are also military and give individual tours to military students upon their arrival on our campus. These student leaders will walk the new student's schedule with the student, is even the familiar face at lunch and in between classes, and can give some insight into the Meigs campus as a military student. At Meigs, we want to ensure all of our students transitioning to our campus have a familiar face on campus to help them!

Meigs Middle School staff receive professional development concerning how to identify and respond to the needs of military students and their families.

Meigs Middle School reserves at least 5% of controlled open enrollment seats, as defined in Section 1002.31, F.S., for military students.

We honor and celebrate our military families throughout the year in many ways:

• September - Patriot's Day, Constitution Week

• November - Veteran's Day Celebration

• April - Month of the Military Child
