What is Title I?
Title I is the largest federal assistance program for our nation’s schools.
The goal of Title I is a higher quality of education for every child.
The program serves millions of children in elementary and secondary schools each year. Silver Sands is a Title I school

How Title I Works:
The federal government --> states
The Florida Department of Education --> district
The school district --> eligible schools
Silver Sands provides supplemental support for students
Silver Sands’ Funds used:
Paraprofessional salary
Implement a schoolwide program for individual communication needs through Unique Learning System Symbols (ULS)
Individual classroom supply needs
Parental Involvement activities
Occupational/Physical Therapy items
Parent Rights
Be involved and request regular meetings
Be provided information on your child’s academic progress
Request and receive information on the qualifications of your child’s teacher
Be informed if your child is taught by a non-highly qualified teacher or paraprofessional for four or more consecutive weeks.
Parent “Right To Know” letters are sent home
towards the beginning of each school year.

Silver Sands School Improvement Plan (SIP) – Provides the strategies being implemented at the school to increase the school’s grade
Title I Compact – Agreement between the teacher, parent, and student regarding responsibilities for school
Access Florida - Link to sites for food stamps, Medicaid, etc. and forms that need to be completed to get services.
Get to Know Silver Sands School & Communicate With Teachers:
Attend special parent trainings (i.e. CORE Training)
Volunteer at school
Keep teachers informed (absences, behavior changes, medical)
