What is Title I?

  • Title I is the largest federal assistance program for our nation’s schools.

  • The goal of Title I is a higher quality of education for every child.

How Title I Works:

  • The federal government --> states

  • The Florida Department of Education --> district

  • The school district --> eligible schools

  • Silver Sands provides supplemental support for students

 Silver Sands’ Funds used:

  • Paraprofessional salary

  • Implement a schoolwide program for individual communication needs through Unique Learning System Symbols (ULS)

  • Individual classroom supply needs

  • Parental Involvement activities

  • Occupational/Physical Therapy items

Parent Rights

  • Be involved and request regular meetings

  • Be provided information on your child’s academic progress

  • Request and receive information on the qualifications of your child’s teacher

  • Be informed if your child is taught by a non-highly qualified teacher or paraprofessional for four or more consecutive weeks.

Parent “Right To Know” letters are sent home
towards the beginning of each school year.

Get to Know Silver Sands School & Communicate With Teachers:
Attend special parent trainings (i.e. CORE Training)
