Welcome to Silver Sands School. We are committed to providing critical transitional support for military-connected students as they relocate to our school due to a parent's change in duty station. Our focus is to eliminate barriers to the academic success of military-connected students. We are here to assist and support the military family lifestyle in such areas as school transitions, frequent moves, deployment, and education inconsistencies that exist from state to state, along with many others.
Military Point of Contact - Leesa King, School Counselor
Our Post Graduate students in our School-To Work Program (STW) act as our student-led military transitional liaisons.
The STW students will introduce themselves to the military student and share an informational flyer highlighting the school, important people to know on campus, and quotes from the students of what they like about Silver Sands School.
Silver Sands School teachers and paraprofessionals (Classroom Aids) are provided opportunities for professional development concerning the military and responding to military students and their families. This is done during pre-planning meetings and Faculty Meetings throughout the year.
Silver Sands School is a special ESE Day School which provides services to any student in Okaloosa County School District who qualifies for intensive educational supports based on Special Needs and their IEP. There is no limit to the open enrollment seats as long as the student is eligible to attend based on their IEP. Silver Sands School services students across Okaloosa County, but primarily in the central/south end of the county.
We honor and celebrate our military families throughout the year in many ways:
September
Constitution Week
November
Month of the Military Family
Veteran's Day - Meal, Parade, Video, and Wall of Honor
April
