📘 What Is the FAST Assessment?
The FAST Assessment—short for Florida Assessment of Student Thinking—is a statewide progress monitoring tool used to measure how well students are learning important Reading and Math skills throughout the school year.
Why Students Take FAST
The FAST assessments help teachers and schools:
Understand each child’s current skill level
Identify strengths and areas where additional support may be needed
Track student progress from the beginning to the end of the year
Adjust instruction to meet students’ individual needs
How FAST Works
Students take FAST assessments three times a year:
PM1 (Progress Monitoring 1) – Beginning of year
PM2 – Mid-year
PM3 – End of year
Tests are computer-based and adaptive, meaning the questions adjust based on how the student responds.
Results give teachers real-time information to guide instruction and support student growth.
What Parents Can Expect
You will receive your child’s scores after each progress monitoring window - published on your FOCUS parent portal.
The assessments are designed to be short, supportive, and focused on growth.
If you have questions about FAST or how to support your child at home, feel free to contact your child’s teacher. 💙🐾
