Bob Sikes Elementary School Ribbon Cutting – April 29, 2025 Today, we proudly celebrated the ribbon cutting at Bob Sikes Elementary School, unveiling their new state-of-the-art cafetorium and modern music classroom! These new spaces reflect our district's ongoing commitment to providing students with inspiring environments that foster learning, creativity, and connection. We were joined by School Board members, local leaders, the incredible Bob Sikes administrative team, and many proud parents. Guests enjoyed a beautiful performance by the 3rd grade chorus and a moving military tribute from one of our students. We thank our community members, staff, students, and valued partners at Jacobs Titan and Lord and Sons. None of this would have been possible without your investment in the Half-Cent Sales Tax, which is a true testament to our shared commitment to excellence in education. "This ribbon cutting marks the 18th facility project completed thanks to the support of our community and the Half-Cent Sales Tax," stated Superintendent Marcus Chambers. "It's a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together. These beautiful new spaces will benefit generations of Bob Sikes students and families, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who made this possible."

The Okaloosa County School District has been made aware of scam phone calls targeting parents. In these calls, individuals falsely claim that a student has an outstanding lunch balance and instructs the parent to "press 1" to make a payment immediately. Please be advised: • The Okaloosa County School District does not contact families by phone to request payment in this manner. • Any legitimate communication regarding student meal accounts would come through official district channels. • In the recently reported case, the scammer provided incorrect student information and used what appeared to be a local phone number, which may have been spoofed. If you receive a suspicious call, do not provide personal or payment information. Instead, hang up and contact your child's school or the district's Food Services Department directly for verification. Thank you for helping us keep our families informed and protected.

𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 Next Thursday, March 13, is the last day of the 3rd 9-week grading period. Spring Break begins on Friday, March 14, and continues through Friday, March 21. Monday, March 24, is a Teacher Workday. Students return for the 4th and final 9-week grading period of the 2024-2025 school year on Tuesday, March 25. We hope everyone has a safe and restful week off!

This week, the Okaloosa County School District and the State of Florida are celebrating the joy of reading and the power of literacy! VPK Registration opened January 1st! Okaloosa County VPK schools include: Southside Primary School, Mary Esther Elementary School, Walker Elementary School, Northwood Elementary School, Riverside Elementary School, Edwins Elementary School, Bob Sikes Elementary School, Okaloosa STEMM Academy, and Longwood Elementary School. Before registering at one of the school sites listed above, you must obtain your child's VPK Certificate of Eligibility. Bob Sikes ES Canned Food Drive for Sharing and Caring will be held December 2nd through December 20th. Every student that brings in at least 5 canned food items will get to participate in hat day on Friday, December 20th. The class that collects the largest number of cans will win a class reward.

A line of storms is expected to move into our area overnight and continue through tomorrow evening. We anticipate heavy rainfall, which may lead to brief flash flood conditions and pooling on roadways. At this time, we do not expect any changes to school start times or dismissal. However, we encourage everyone to exercise caution during your commute. If your child is late or misses school due to weather in your area, please provide a note when they return. Today was an amazing success at our Bob Sikes Beautification Day! From replanting our front entrance flower bed, to pressure washing, raking up leaves, and litter clean up, we accomplished so much. Huge thanks to all the volunteers – parents, students, families, community members, and staff – your dedication made it happen! 🌷💪

OCSD is working with County Emergency Management Officials who are monitoring a storm system moving into our area Wednesday afternoon. Following weather updates from County Emergency Management Officials, the District will communicate any potential adjustments to Wednesday's school day or after school activities. Proceeds will be used to purchase classroom supplies and fund additional educational enhancements. **Students an complete the coloring sheet on the back and bring it to Subway that night. One winner from each grade level will be chosen and will receive a certificate for a free kid's meal.
