The Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation (OPSF) is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to support and extend educational opportunities for all students within Okaloosa County. One of the primary ways this is done is through the Take Stock in Children
scholarship program, which currently provides two-year college scholarships and one-on-one mentoring for sixty (60) academically deserving high school students from low-income families. The funds raised are matched dollar for dollar by the Florida Prepaid Scholarship Program, doubling the impact of any local contribution.
The Foundation would like to increase the number of scholarship recipients to one hundred (100) students over the next five years, as each scholarship is $3,900. The Annual BBQ and Bingo goal is to raise funds to help cover the cost of these additional scholarships, support the teacher grant program, and promote overall student success through other initiatives. The event takes place on Tuesday, October 24, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Clubhouse Grill at 1955 Lewis Turner Blvd, Fort Walton Beach. Tickets are $30 per person.
Sponsorship levels are also available and are $175, $250, and $450. For those interested, contact Debbie Tate. For more information about the Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation or to become a mentor, please call 850.833.5879.
