The Niceville High School (NHS) School Advisory Council (SAC) is accepting nominations for NHS parents interested in serving on SAC for the 2022-2024 school years (two-year term).
There are a select number of openings for parent member positions. You may nominate yourself or someone else who would be a good candidate. An election will be conducted if we receive applications in excess of the number of positions available.
At this time, parents who wish to submit an application can download and print the SAC Parent Nomination Form here or pick up a copy in the front office during regular office/school hours.
The deadline to return nomination forms to the school's main office is Friday, September 2, 2022, at noon. No nominations will be accepted after that time.
More information about NHS SAC - purpose, meetings and membership, bylaws – is available on the School Advisory council link on the NHS website.
Voting will take place once nominations have been received and validated. Watch for more information about voting at www.okaloosaschools.com/niceville/.
The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a team of people representing various segments of our school’s community – parents, teachers, students, administrators, support staff, and community/business partners. Niceville High School School Advisory Council (SAC) provides the opportunity for parents, students, staff, and community members to assist in improving our school. The SAC assists in the preparation and evaluation of the School Performance Plan (SPP) and may also assist the principal with the annual school budget. The SAC reviews relevant data (which is much more than test scores), identifies problem areas, and develops improvement strategies, and monitors their implementation.
The membership includes the principal, eight teachers and students from each grade level. Parent, student and teacher members are elected by their peers, with parents serving two-year terms and teachers serving for three years. Students serve one-year terms and are elected at the time of class officer elections. Community members are selected by the principal.
The Council will meet a minimum of four (4) times a year, September through August. Some meetings will be conducted through ZOOM and will be posted with a possible change in the meeting. Meetings are usually held the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 a.m. in the main conference room at NHS. Parents and members of the public at large are welcome at all SAC meetings. Agendas for each meeting are available during the week prior to the meeting in the Main Office.
Every school in the state of Florida is required to develop a School Performance Plan. Each year NHS staff and SAC review all relevant data, which includes but is not limited to: state assessment data, progress monitoring, locally developed test scores, needs assessments, attendance records, discipline records, and other feedback as appropriate. From this data, we update our comprehensive plan with strategies for improvement.
