School Advisory

What is a School Advisory Council?

The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a team of people representing various segments of our school's community - parents, teachers, students, administrators, support staff, and community business partners. Bruner Middle School's School Advisory Council provides the opportunity for parents, teachers, staff, and community business leaders to assist in improving our school. The SAC assist in the preparation and evaluation of the School Performance Plann (SPP), and may also assist the principal with the annual school budget. The SAC reviews relevant data , identifies problem areas, and develops improvement strategies, and motion their implementation.

Membership

The membership includes the principal, teachers and parents. Teacher members are elected by their peers, with parents serving two-year terms and teacher serving for three years. Community members are selected by the principal.

Meeting Dates for 2023 - 2024

Meeting times are subject to change if so voted by council.

What is the School Performance Plan?

Every school in the State of Florida is required to develop a School Performance Plan. Each year BMS staff and SAC review all relevant data, which includes but not limited to: state assessment, data progress monitoring, locally developed test scores, needs assessment, attendance records, discipline records, and other feedback as appropriate. From this data, we update our comprehensive plan with strategies for improvement.
