CTE is a unique program for secondary students. CTE provides students with nationally recognized industry certifications and a solid foundation. Students earn high school credit, meet online requirements, and nationally-recognized industry certification – all at the same time.
Having the faculty possess the national industry certifications attached to the courses they teach establishes greater credibility.
Web and Coding - Mr. Jackson
(9001110) Foundations of Web Design - Honors Weighted Course, 8th Grade only- This Web Design course is a foundational course that introduces students to basic Web design using HTML5 (Hypertext Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). The course does not require any prior knowledge of HTML or Web Design. Through the course, students are introduced to planning and designing effective Web pages from start to finish while having fun doing it. The combination of hands-on learning and teacher instruction gives the student a well-rounded background in Web design. Compete for prizes at "Around the World in 60 Minutes - A Web Showcase". Students will have the opportunity to earn the HTML5 Application Development Fundamentals certification. This course qualifies for on-line credit, high school fine art credit, science or math credit, and Florida's Bright Futures - Gold Seal Scholarship through Web Programming track
(9009500) Fundamentals of Web and Software Development - Grades 7 & 8 only
Have you every wanted to learn to create a Web site? Not sure where to start? The Fundamentals of Web and Software Development is the place to start where you will learn the basics of HTML, the publishing language of the Web and CSS, how pages get their style. Students will create their own live home pages to serve as portfolios of their creations. By the end of the course, students will be able to explain how Web pages are developed and viewed on the Internet, analyze and fix errors in existing Web sites, and create their very own multipage Web sites. Students will have the opportunity to earn the Introduction to Programming Using HTML& CSS Industry Certification.
(9009200) Coding Fundamentals - Grades 6, 7, & 8 - The coding Fundamentals course is the perfect course to introduce students to the fast-growing field of computer science through fun, skill-building applications. This course takes a wide lens on computer science by covering topics such as programming, physical computing, and HTML/CSS. Students engage with Coding Fundamentals as a medium for creativity, communication, problem solving, and fun. The course inspires students as they build their own Web sites, apps, and games. Students in the Coding Fundamental course will gain a solid foundation in programming knowledge and skills. No previous coding skills are required. Students will have the opportunity to earn a digital tool certificate.
Architecture and Construction - Mr. Thompson
Course 8109350 - Introduction to Architecture & Construction
The purpose of this class is to educate the students and become acquainted with the careers and opportunities that lie ahead. This knowledge will benefit them in making informed decisions on their future academic or occupational goals.
- Students will become familiar with:
- the career pathways, the required skills, and its history
-technology, how it is used, and proper terminology
-care and preventative maintenance of industry specific tools, all while learning the many safety protocols that pertain to the Architecture and Construction Industry.
Course 8109300 - Fundamentals of Architecture & Construction
The purpose of this class is to educate the students, so they have a comprehensive understanding of the careers and opportunities that lie ahead. This knowledge will benefit them in making informed decisions on their future academic or occupational goals.

-learn how to use, interpret, various documents and blueprints
- demonstrate safe work practices, comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules, building codes, and applicable regulations.

Introduction to Technology
Introduction to Technology will expose students to the facets of technology. Students will gather knowledge and will be introduced to the design and problem-solving processes using manipulative skills while working cooperatively with others in team activities. The students will bring their creative minds, creative abilities, and hands-on skills together to solve challenges.
Exploring IT Careers
The purpose of Exploring IT Careers is to assist students in making informed decisions regarding their academic and occupational goals, and to provide information regarding careers in the Information Technology career clusters.
Using both online and hands-on resources, students work with partners, and in small groups, participating in engineering-design activities. These activities involve students in experiences where they learn about brainstorming, visualizing, modeling, constructing, testing, and refining designs.
Exploring Technology and Career Planning
The Exploring Technology course gives students an opportunity to explore the area of production technology with a focus on robotics. Students solve technological problems using a variety of tools, materials, processes and systems while gaining an understanding of the effects of production technology on our everyday lives. Using the engineering design process, students work in pairs and small teams to solve problems and complete various tasks. In addition, students learn basic programming concepts through platforms such as Scratch, Ozoblockly, and Legos EV3.
