Military Families

Welcome to Northwood Elementary School. We are committed to providing critical transitional support for military-connected students as they relocate to our school due to a parent's change in duty station. Our focus is to eliminate barriers to the academic success of military-connected students. We are here to assist and support the military family lifestyle in such areas as school transitions, frequent moves, deployment, and education inconsistencies that exist from state to state, along with many others. 5% of controlled open enrollment seats are reserved for military children according to School Board Policy 04-48.

Student 2 Student Leadership Transition Program

Northwood is proud to be a Student 2 Student school, assisting families who are traditional to a new school, in a new duty assignment. Our School Counselor, Erin Adams, would be delighted to offer a personal tour of the school, highlighting key locations and services. Mrs. Adams will advise our student transition team coordinator that we have a new student from a military family joining us. They will give the student(s) a tour of the school with a guided checklist within their first two weeks of arrival.

Professional Development

Northwood Elementary School staff receive professional development concerning how to identify and respond to the needs of military students and their families.
