On Wednesday, October 8, Riverside Elementary joined schools across the nation in celebrating National Walk to School Day — and what a wonderful turnout it was! 🚶♀️👟
Dozens of students, families, staff members, and community supporters gathered together to make the morning walk to Riverside a memorable one. The event not only encouraged healthy habits but also highlighted the importance of safe routes to school and the power of community connection.
Promoting Health, Safety, and Community
National Walk to School Day serves as a reminder of how small steps can make a big difference. Walking or biking to school promotes physical activity, reduces traffic congestion, and supports a cleaner environment. More importantly, it gives families and neighbors a chance to connect and start the day on a positive note.
Safety First
Riverside would like to remind everyone to keep safety a top priority—whether walking, biking, or driving near a school zone:
For Walkers:
Use crosswalks and follow the directions of crossing guards.
Stay alert and avoid distractions like phones or headphones.
Stick to sidewalks whenever possible.
For Drivers:
Slow down and obey all posted school zone speed limits.
Be cautious near crosswalks and intersections.
Stay alert for children entering or exiting vehicles.
A Community Effort
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who participated and helped make this event a success. Your enthusiasm and support reflect the true spirit of our Riverside community—working together to build healthier, safer habits for our students.
Together, we’re proving that every day can be a Walk to School Day at Riverside! 🦅❤️
