School Delayed

May 9, 2024 5:00 pm Update:

Our area is under an enhanced risk for Severe Weather on Friday, May 10, 2024. This enhanced risk includes straight-line winds up to 80 mph making it unsafe for buses and students to travel to school. As such we have been in communication with the Okaloosa County Director of Public Safety, Patrick Maddox, about the severe weather entering Okaloosa County early Friday morning. The latest update shows that the storm conditions indicate that this severe weather will be entering Okaloosa County around 3:00 am and lasting until approximately 8:00 am.  Due to such weather, each Okaloosa School will now start THREE hours later than its regular start time and end at the normal dismissal time tomorrow.  This delay will allow our transportation department to safely pickup and deliver our students to their schools.

If your child rides a bus to school, he/she should be at the bus stop three hours later than normal and all other students should arrive at school three hours later than their normal arrival time. This change to tomorrow’s schedule is to ensure our students and employees arrive at school safely. Additionally, we understand that during this time of year, our schools are engaged in end of year state testing; all such testing will be rescheduled by the school and you will be provided with the information.

Due to the delay, schools will not serve breakfast, however, lunch will be served as usual.
