Minority Council
Mary Esther Elementary has joined the team of recruits in the effort to help "close the gap" in Okaloosa County Schools. We have formed a Jr. Minority Council, becoming one of the many chapters here in the county.
The purpose of the council is to create positive peer support networks for minority students in our schools. Our initiative is:
To encourage and motivate minority students to achieve academic excellence
To increase participation of minority students in community service
To develop leadership and discourage negative peer influence
To expose minority students to college experiences and scholarship information
To expose students to college life by visiting college campuses
To increase minority parental involvement by implementation of a M.C. Parent Committee
We are excited about this quest to be leaders within our school, while helping other students establish a strong academic foundation.
We appreciate all of the volunteers and those who are contributing to our organization and purpose.
The Minority Council participates in a variety of activities to better the school and the community. Some activities include.
Pop Tops for the Ronald McDonald House
Food Drives for People and Pets
Cram the Van for School Supplies
