The Okaloosa County School District proudly announces that Destin Elementary School kindergartner Claire Grelle is one of six statewide winners in the Florida Department of Education and Volunteer Florida’s America250FL Art Contest. The America250FL Art Contest, created for the nation’s 250th anniversary, invited Florida kindergarten through fifth-grade students to submit artwork showing how Florida has contributed to America. Students reflected on the state’s history, heritage, and impact through creative expression.
Claire’s artwork was selected from entries statewide, earning her recognition as one of Florida’s top young artists. Superintendent Marcus Chambers said, “We are incredibly proud of Claire. Being one of only six statewide winners is an extraordinary honor, especially for a kindergartner. Claire’s creativity and talent are inspiring, and she represents the best of Destin Elementary and Okaloosa County School District.”
As part of this honor, Claire received a two-year Florida College Plan scholarship from the Florida Prepaid College Foundation and was also recognized by Governor Ron DeSantis, making the achievement even more memorable. Claire’s teacher, Ms. Jennifer Huffman, shared her excitement for Claire and her family, noting the pride felt throughout the school community. The Okaloosa County School District congratulates Claire and celebrates the bright future ahead for this talented young student.
