Sherri Harkins dedicated 39 years of service to Edwins Elementary School before retiring at the beginning of this year. She touched the lives of many past and present Jr. Vikings. Ms. Harkins has a passion for science, specifically agriculture, that she shared with students. Our Greenhouse and garden area is a vision that she helped bring to life in order to teach children how to grow food to supplement their tables. Under her initiative, the garden area became an outdoor classroom for students to receive hands-on learning in the area of agriculture.
To honor Ms. Harkins, this area has been dedicated to her. It is our Hope that Harkins’ Garden will once again become the space it was created to be. Holy Trinity Church and Lowes got us one step closer this month. On September 11, members of the church, faculty, and families came to refresh, revive, and replant the six raised beds, and clean up the greenhouse. The donation of time and materials made Harkins’ Garden a place we are proud to dedicate to Ms. Harkins’ years of service here at Edwins.
