We are excited to have a Minority council this year at Edwins Elementary. Minority Council creates positive peer support networks for students who choose to excel in academics and school involvement. We seek to encourage and motivate students to achieve academic excellence, increase participation in community service, develop leadership skills, expose students to college life or post-secondary opportunities, and increase parental involvement.
This year, under the guidance of sponsors, Ms. Jackson and Ms. Williams, our students have had the privilege of hearing from community pillars in meetings, participating in Okaloosa County’s annual MLK Jr. Contests, tutoring 1st-grade students within our school, as well as, marching alongside community members in the MLK March. Through numerous fundraisers, students look forward to taking a college tour of the University of West Florida to conclude the school year.
