Matt Brunson, Head Football Coach at Baker School, was recognized at the June 8th School Board meeting for his induction into the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Hall of Fame, Class of 2026. His outstanding career in high school athletics includes more than 30 years of coaching, a 288–85 record, 22 state playoff appearances, two state championships, and a lasting impact on student-athletes throughout Northwest Florida. His induction into the FHSAA Hall of Fame reflects a career defined by excellence, leadership, and service to the game of football.
The Florida High School Athletic Hall of Fame was founded in 1991 to recognize and preserve the heritage of high school athletics in Florida, to keep alive the tradition and spirit of high school athletics in Florida and to honor those persons who through distinguished achievement have excelled in one or more high school athletic programs sponsored by the Association and its member schools.
According to their website, https://fhsaa.com/hof.aspx, 247 deserving individuals have been enshrined in the Florida High School Athletic Hall of Fame to date, not counting the Class of 2026. They include administrators, coaches, contest officials, student-athletes, and other contributors, such as sports writers, who have raised the level of awareness of high school athletics through their dedication, efforts, and achievements.
